LG UltraGear Gaming Speaker GP9 has been unveiled expanding LG’s UltraGear line of gaming hardware. The speaker has a unique look to it paired with RGB lighting. LG says it offers three-dimensional, game-optimised sound, easy controls, and seamless compatibility with both PCs and the latest consoles.
The GP9 runs on a proprietary OSD that has a clean and simple GUI, allowing for a seamless transition from one gaming mode to the other. Along with standard modes like surround sound, a Game mode, Game Mode and 3D mode. And on top of that there’s also an Adaptive mode that allows for seamless adjustment of the speaker settings based on the game that’s being played. There’s also a wireless Bluetooth connectivity that supports up to 7.1 channels of multi-room music, allowing you to play on any room with an internet connection. The connectivity is done with the supplied adapter, or the wired version can also be purchased separately. The speaker offers an extended battery life and it is water resistant with IPX7.
The new speaker is also capable of supporting multiple controllers, providing for convenient usage even if you’re using a mouse and keyboard, with built in vibration features to keep the user in the gaming environment. There are five buttons, left, right, a mode button, and a power button, but only on the wireless model. Otherwise, the speaker is controlled with a smartphone. There are also multiple connectivity options and two charging ports, a 3.5mm input and a micro USB. The audio from the microphone can also be used to stream the games to a gaming system. The speaker is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. It also comes with a detachable wireless Bluetooth module so that the user can connect up to 6 pairs of speakers at a time. The price is roughly around USD $100, with the wireless model being the most affordable.
