Loki Trailer Gives Tom Hiddleston New Superpowers
Loki is officially one of the coolest characters in the MCU. The trick for Loki to stay on that list, though, is a) make him his own person (like we got to see in Thor: The Dark World), b) not just another power player (like Iron Man) or c) a member of the team (like Captain America). And, thankfully, as we see in the new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, Loki is a character who could very easily fit all three descriptions.
The new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok gives us our first look at Loki (Tom Hiddleston) as he comes face to face with Thor, his sister Hela and the gladiator, who’s not only going to be on the hunt for Thor and Hela but also the one who will kill him. This is all for what purpose? Because, according to the trailer, it’s Loki’s turn to be in charge of his own fate, which could mean he has something special in store. Or could simply mean he’s going to have a great deal of fun torturing Thor!

The story for Thor: Ragnarok begins when Thor, the God of Thunder, left Asgard with his fellow Avengers to stop an invasion of their home planet by the Norse demigod Loki and his mischievous brother, Thor Odinson. Joined by the Hulk, they first headed to the lush alien planet Sakaar, where the brothers were put in a deadly gladiatorial battle that left Loki near death. To save his brother’s life, he banished them from Asgard, leaving them for dead in a remote corner of the universe.
However, it’s not long before Thor and his friends make their way back to Asgard, and this time, it’s on the orders of Odin, the king of Asgard, to retrieve the mighty Mjolnir — the only weapon that can defeat their enemies. This time, though, it’s up to Thor to find a way to retrieve the weapon before it’s too late. But when Odin’s trusted ally, the ancient and mysterious scientist Jane Foster, returns to Asgard, she brings trouble of her own.
In an effort to restore peace to their home planet, Odin plans a wedding, and he finds himself in need of an invited guest — the mysterious and beautiful newcomer Valkyrie. But the goddess of mischief might be all that stands between Odin’s plans and total destruction.
In addition to Rogen and Cheadle, the film also stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Hopkins, and Kili. The film’s writers are Alan Gaylord and Christopher Yost, and its director is Taika Waititi.
Hemsworth’s Thor will be followed by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 also stars, in addition to Pratt, Gunn, Bradley, Feige, Lee, Hemsworth, Cheadle, Zev, Thompson, Glenn Close, and Pom Klementieff.
