How to Activate Your Airtel eSIM

you are an Airtel subscriber, you can activate the eSIM functionality provided you have a compatible device. As mentioned, recent flagship phones from Samsung, Apple, Google, Motorola Razr 5G, and Motorola Razr (2019) are part of the compatibility list. For converting your physical SIM to eSIM, follow the simple steps below.

1. Make sure that you have a physical SIM

2. Insert the SIM card

3. In Airtel, select Settings > More options.

4. Choose eSIM > Activate

5. After activating the eSIM, you will get a new IMEI number. You need to note down this number. We need this number later.

6. Now, check if the device is an eSIM capable phone

Now, go to Settings > About device > Status > and check if the device is an eSIM capable phone.

NOTE: The iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XS Max are compatible with Airtel. However, the iPhone XR and iPhone XS Max won’t have eSIM functionality with the Airtel network.

How to add data to eSIM card:

1. If you are the new user of eSIM card, you need to activate the eSIM card and then activate data. If you already have eSIM card and you want to add data to it, follow the following steps:

a) Go to ‘Home’

b) Tap on ‘More options’

c) Tap on ‘Activate’

d) In ‘Activated eSIM’, tap on ‘activate Data’.

e) You will see an option to add data to the eSIM card.

How to add roaming data

If you are planning to use your eSIM at outside of India, you can add roaming data to the eSIM card. There are two ways to add data to eSIM. The first is ‘Add in Apps’. In this method, you need to manually switch to roaming and add the data. The other way is to do it automatically. Here is how to do it:

a) Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

b) Scroll down and tap on ‘Personal’

c) You will see a small section named ‘Data Roaming’. In here, you will see an option to add Data.

There is also a setting called ‘Add roaming data’. Tap on that. You will see ‘Add in Apps’ and ‘Add on SIM’. If you want to add the data automatically, select ‘Add on SIM’.

How to add data to eSIM using Data Roaming option:

Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

Scroll down and tap on ‘Personal’.

You will see a section named ‘Data Roaming’.

If you have enabled roaming data in the settings, it will show a small ‘+’ sign next to ‘Data Roaming’ option. Click on it.

You will be able to select an operator and add the data to the eSIM.

How to add data to eSIM using Add on SIM option:

Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

Scroll down and tap on ‘Personal’.

You will see a small section named ‘Data Roaming’.

Tap on the option ‘Add on SIM’.

In here, you will see all the operators in the country. Select one and add the data.

Note: You can not select a mobile network to add the data. It is always the default network.

How to access Data Roaming on iPhone X:

Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

Scroll down and tap on ‘Personal’.

Tap on ‘Data Roaming’ and select ‘Manual’.

You can see the roaming data plan of your country in the Data Roaming section.

Here, you can select the data plan for your iPhone to use.

Note: The eSIM and regular SIM will have a data option in the ‘Data Roaming’ section. You will be able to select the roaming data plan, data package and more, depending upon the plan that you select in the settings.
