Acer Smart TV Models to Launch in India in September Under Brand Licensing Agreement With Indkal Technologies

Acer will soon enter the smart TV space in India with brand-licensee Indkal Technologies, which is a Bengaluru based company. While Acer is famous for its computer hardware and accessories and has been in business for over 45 years, it will now launch smart TVs. The new entry will be launched in 2nd quarter of 2017. This would mean a strong product in the market to compete with the rest of the Smart TVs. In addition, this is the first time in Acer’s history to enter the Indian market.

The new Acer smart TV line would consist of Acer N9, a 55-inch 4K HDR 1080p TV with a 32-bit quad-core processor that is available in India at INR 40,000, Acer N6S, a 55-inch 4K HDR UHD TV (with HDR, but not with HDR 10) with a quad-core processor at INR 36,900 and Acer XB1E, a 48-inch 4K HDR 1080p UHD TV (with HDR 10) with a quad-core processor at INR 47,990.

When asked about the kind of content that will be included with these TVs, Acer said that it would provide content from OTT (over the top) services like VOD and SVOD as well as content from media companies and others, like movies, TV serials, game content and such. However, it added that not much can be said now because the Indian smart TV landscape is evolving quickly. The company, which has its design centre in Delhi, expects strong business in the Indian market and is confident that the new line will be a success. Acer has an established distribution network that consists of retail outlets, digital and e-commerce.

The Acer N9 TV will sport a 6.5-inch full-HD display with a peak brightness of 600 cd/m2 and a Contrast Ratio of 2,800:1 and will be available at select retailers. The N6S TV, meanwhile, will sport a 6.3-inch full-HD display with a peak brightness of 600 cd/m2 and a Contrast Ratio of 2,500:1 and will be available at select retailers. The XB270HU 2-in-1 is the company’s newest flagship 4K/HDR TV model which boasts a slim, sleek design with a 21:9 aspect ratio and two HDMI ports.

Acer will be present at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany, the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, Germany, and the MWC in Barcelona, Spain.
