Loki Tamil, Telugu Dubs Delayed. Disney+ Hotstar Says Coming ‘Soon’

Loki’s Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions have been indefinitely delayed, likely due to COVID-19 challenges. Loki release date and time in India is June 9 at 12:30pm IST. Loki is available in English on Disney+ Hotstar Premium and Hindi on Disney+ Hotstar VIP.

VFX and story re-shoots are currently underway and it is expected to be completed in about 30 days. The film features the talents of Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Hiddleston.

Disney+ India will offer three premium pricing plans: a basic pack (starting at INR 399), a silver pack (starting at INR 449), and a gold pack (starting at INR 549). Users will have access to over 150 global and regional channels, including ESPN and over 20 Disney-branded channels such as Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, Freeform, Disney, and Maker Studios. Disney+ is also planning to launch a streaming service in the UK by the end of 2020, with US and Canada coming in 2021.

The service will have both on-demand and live-action content, in addition to kids’ shows, original series, and movies. Users in the UK will be able to watch Disney+ via Sky, Virgin Media, NOW TV, or EE. In India, customers can use any television network provider.

With this partnership, Disney’s streaming service is expected to launch in India by August with a free trial period, followed by a price tag of INR 999 ($15). The basic plan will have access to select Disney+ series and movies while the silver and gold plans will have access to the entire library. There is no price cut as of yet.

This is the latest in a series of Disney+ India partnerships. Other partnerships include that of the Telugu content provider Suresh Productions along with Netflix India and Sony Crackle India, which will lead to the launch of Disney+-branded content, Disney+ original series, and Disney+ premium content.

According to a report by ET, Disney+ will have an app-based content curation service on its portal, allowing users to sort content from different genres. While the app itself will be available on both Android and iOS, the Android version will be free of charge, while the iOS version will be available only to a certain number of users on pre-approved plans.

The Disney+ subscription service is expected to launch in India by August, with plans set to be launched by August.

The Disney-backed streaming service is also launching a Disney World-inspired theme park in India. The park, which is under the Disney India brand, is expected to be in the form of Disneytown in Maharashtra. The park will be made up of six different themed areas such as Pirates Cove, Town Square, Maelstrom’s Den, Mickey’s Magical World, and Mystic Point.
